What is a QR code?

A QR code is a two-dimensional barcode made of black and white modules on a grid. Scanners find the square finder patterns in three corners, align the image, then read the data. The specification includes error correction so part of the code can be damaged and it may still decode.

How much you can store depends on the QR version, the type of characters (numeric vs arbitrary text), and the error-correction level—higher correction stores less payload but survives more dirt or cropping.

Static vs dynamic

HelpCalc only generates static QR codes: the data you enter is encoded directly in the image. We do not offer short links or scan tracking. If you need analytics, you would use your own landing page and analytics on the destination site.

Privacy & acceptable use

Anyone who can see the QR image can read what it contains (including Wi‑Fi passwords in standard Wi‑Fi QRs). Generation runs in your browser; we do not receive your payloads. Do not use these tools for phishing, malware distribution, or to violate network policies.

Frequently asked questions

Do you track scans?

No. Static QR codes have no connection to our servers when someone scans them. We do not provide short URLs or analytics for these tools.

Is my Wi‑Fi password safe in a QR code?

The password is stored in the QR in plain form. Anyone with the image can recover it. Treat printed Wi‑Fi QRs like written passwords—share only with people you trust to have network access.

Why does my logo not appear in the SVG download?

The logo overlay is drawn on the PNG canvas preview. SVG export is the plain QR matrix so it stays a simple vector file. Use PNG for branded codes with a center logo.
